Quick note: These are actually quite different roles because the deployment environment is extremely different. It doesn’t make sense to think of these as a single role, but because the descriptions are similar, they are being combined in this document.

Overview

Build, support, and maintain consumer applications in iOS to meet business requirements specified by the product team.

Responsibilities

Build applications that interact with a set of backend APIs to fulfil business and design requirements. You are responsible for working with both an appointed QA member and designer to decide upon specifications before building the application and estimating all the tasks which are required for a given feature.

As part of this, you must maintain a set of internal unit and integration tests to protect against regressions, in whatever framework is appropriate for your environment.

Specifically, full automations are not required, as they are to be undertaken by quality assurance, however you are expected to understand the functioning of QA’s chosen testing tools and provide assistance as required.

You will be responsible for creating and maintaining your own task specifications and estimates for all requested features as to give product an accurate understanding of the scope (along with any risks, such as problem domains that the team lacks prior experience with) before beginning work.

Finally, you must ACTIVELY work to remove depreciated dependencies and API calls from your application as soon as possible (i.e., BEFORE IT BECOMES A PROBLEM IN PRODUCTION). Failing to stay informed on dependency depreciation is unacceptable. In combination with this, all 3rd party dependencies must be kept to a minimum and compiled or source versions of this code may not be checked into your repositories except in circumstances where you have no other choices. These dependencies must be kept at the latest version (except in the circumstance where other dependencies, or platform version support requirements, prevent you from doing so.)
